Rip's Loyal Friend

ROUGH DRAFT UPDATE #3

THE RIP VAN WINKLE BOOK

RIP'S LOYAL FRIEND

He named him Chocolate because he was brown. It's as simple as that - Because Rip is simple.

Dogs don't care what you call them. They are loyal companions no matter what.

The interesting thing about putting a dog in this particular story is the contrast between the before and after scenes. No spoiler, you know the premise of the Rip Van Winkle story already, but when my Rip Van Winkle wakes up from his 35 year sleep, he obviously has lost his loyal friend.

I'm finding it strange to write later scenes and chapters in which Rip does not have Chocolate to interact with. Or even more strange that he still kind of does interact with Chocolate, in his own way. certainly Rip has not forgotten him.

So the question I'm asking myself is- is there a resolution to this scenario? I mean, I can't just have a story where the main character used to have a dog, then he doesn't. Right? Should Rip get new dog? (as if Chocolate can be replaced) does he simply comes to terms with it? That's no resolution.

I feel like I've come across one. It is not grand by any means. In fact it is rather subtle. But still, I am not going to tell you for whatever spoiling it may cause. Besides, subtle touches can be greatly appreciated in a story, and I'm excited to let you come across it yourself.

Thank you for reading! If you're looking for a bright gospel-centered book, please, Let me recommend one. Or check out one of my own books.

Until the next book, remember Christ the author of salvation and the reader of your heart.
